slacking a bit but here are some fun pics

april photos

enjoy! this was an all church football game day. 2 games - guys played then girls. and the girls game was a lot more competitive. we had 5 people taken to Urgent Care the worst injury was our Childrens pastor he was on crutches for 6 weeks because of a broken leg. and one of the girls broke her wrist and was in a cast for 6 weeks. crazy! i think we are going to play again in the fall!

fun

so we have been having lots of fun around our own town. bike rides, swimming, playing and of course getting ice cream from the ice cream truck. today mr. dave and our little buddy are going on a bike ride through cape may and doing some errands while i work. we are also going to vbs at church again tonight and i think our little guy is having fun. when the skits take place he is mesmerized, to see Jesus heal a man who was paralyzed was amazing. it is so cool to see Jesus and God through the eyes of a child. he made up a song last night with david and one of the lines he wrote is God likes my song because he likes everything. so cute! anyway sorry for the cheesy update but hey this is my life and my blog! enjoy! happy summer.

a kid for 2 weeks

david and i took a foster child placement for a vacation placement for another foster family that went on vacation but was not able to take him along. he is 8 years old and he came to stay with us on june 17 and he will go back to his permanent foster home on july 1. we are having a fun vacation with him, since he didnt get to go on his camping vacation we are making sure he has a great time with us. it is crazy to be incharge of a child and they really dont even know you. but so far our friend is a very well behaved child even though he told us he cant have too much sugar because it makes him wild and he told us he is allergic to strawberries and milk but his worker didnt tell us that. he is running errands with mr. dave and then we are going to go for a bike ride when i get done with work. he is looking forward to monday when he gets to go on a boat for the first time. we are going on a ferry ride and big dave will be the captain. if you have kids or are planning on having kids remember how excited the little things in life make them and teach them things they will be better people because of you. i can already see it with our friend and we have only had him a few days when we let him do things instead of doing it for him he has a sense of accomplishment. he took his training wheels off his new bike all by himself and mr dave taught him how to use the wrench and how to know which direction to go. righty tighty and lefty loosey. haha! anyway hope everyone is well and we will keep you updated on our process.

we did it!

so it only took 10 months but david and i are licensed foster parents for the state of NJ. we had our final inspection today and it was about an hour (much shorter then we expected) and the person who did the inspection was very very nice i was alone because david had to work and i was so nervous that the inspector would be mean. But when he showed up 15 min early he was very nice and he told me not to worry about anything he isnt looking to fail us, he wants to see us pass. So needless to say 1 hour later and after he looked in every closet, cupboard (he had to test the child safety locks) and he turned on every facet, checked that the toilet flushed and then looked around outside. then he had to interview me about what we are going to do for punishment and for rewards. and i explained that we want to be positive not negative and we want out child to be safe so they will have rules that keep them safe. they have a no corporal punishment rule (duh!) so time outs or loss of priviledges is our choice. and then we are going to do reward charts and a big reward like a picnic, going to the zoo and such. the inspector seemed happy with my answers and he sia that we are going to be great parents and he can tell we have a loving home already and he congratulated us on our decision to become foster parents then he said YOU PASSED with no violations!! Hooray!! So we could be parents any day now!!! So crazy how we have waited for this final inspection and now it doesnt seem real that we could get a call and be asked to foster a child even today! keep us in your prayers. we will keep you all updated (sorry no pics on the net b/c of rules but we can snail mail them or email)
