who is Parson Brown??

so the christmas season is apon us...that means i get to listen to christmas music whenever and wherever possible...even in the car - because david loves me. so the song winter wonderland has some questionable lyrics and i cant seem to find anything on the world wide web that can explain them...so i am asking my friends here on my blog. just what is this song about and who is parson brown and why does he the snowman turn into parson brown in one verse and a clown in another?? anyone else confused by this?? just wondering...i did find one guys description of what he thought ...and david and i talked about it but i am still very unclear on this whole thing. so friends what do you think??

I always thought he was like a priest who was going to marry the girl off to someone... But now looking at the whole lyrics I'm not so sure... hmm.. very good question though...

Being a devout church member I would think you would be smart enough to know that "Parson" is a minister. Why does everyone have to disect a "meaning" OUT OF EVERY SONG THEY HEAR. This song was written well before there was a "sexual" meaning behind every lyric. This is a song about two people being in love and wishing they were married-that is all.

That's what I always thought it was about too. "Parson Brown" as being a minister marrying the two... but then because they were young they decided to just make the snowman into a clown and have fun. Who knows? Fun to think about though.

I actually never considered "parson brown" as being a person. Untill reading this, it never occured to me that "parson brown" was anything other than a type of brown that i am not yet familiar with. i always thought...huh,they pretend he's brown...whatever.

why do you have to be anonymous, mr. anonymous? i think it's fairly obvious that mellissa here was simply making a introspective yet somewhat knowingly silly post about a song we all know and somewhat love. are you saying that all christians should know who parson brown is? i had and still have no friggin' clue who he is...and guess what, i'm going to heaven. i'm done, you frusrate me. don't write again unless you want to show your face.

actually, to be correct, for a long time i thought the snowman was "parce and brown"...again, asuming "parce" was just another thing i was not yet familiar with.
